How long will we be at sea for a days fishing?
Normally when our vessels go to sea for a day, it means 8-10 hour trips, depending on the tides etc, but a more accurate time
can be given in advance of your trip.
Would I be able to take my family on board?
Providing the boat is not already fully pre booked, you can take a family member on board either by using your points for them, or as
a paying guest.
How many points will I be able to buy?
You can buy as many points as you like, but the minimum amount of points you can purchase is 1500 (see Purchase
Plans)
Will I get a Points Statement every year?
Yes, you will receive a Points Statement each year with your remaining points value on it, plus your yearly allocation of points.
Am I able to carry my points over?
Yes you are able to carry points over up to a maximum of 2 years.
Am I able to sell my points?
Yes, you can sell your points to other members at a a price agreed between you, or The Boat Bond offers a buy back guarantee for 50%
of the value of the points for the first 10 years (Gold & Platinum Plan).
How will I contact other members to buy and sell points?
Bond members will get access to a section of the website where points may be bought and sold.
Am I able to sell or transfer my plan?
Yes, as long as the recipient of the plan meets the criteria specified in the scheme rules.
Can I hire rods and buy bait from you?
Yes you can hire rods from ourselves for a small user fee, and we can provide bait at cost as long as we are informed prior to the trip.
Are refreshments provided?
Hot and cold drinks will be provided. Food will not be provided unless requested at cost.
Do I have to use the same boat each time?
You will be able to use any of our boats providing that space is available.
Are there any hidden fees with The Boat Bond Points?
No, the user fee on each trip covers all ongoing costs like skipper and mate, insurance, maintenance, mooring, safety equipment, replacement,
wear and tear etc.
How far in advance can I place a booking?
We cannot take bookings more than 12 months in advance.
How much notice is required to book a trip on a particular boat?
We need at least 2 months notice to reserve a place on a particular boat, but the sooner you are able to book, the better the guarantee
of a place. Late bookings are sometimes available so it is always advisable to contact our reservations department.
What happens if for example the weather is too bad to take the boat out?
If a trip is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control all points will normally be returned to your account.
How secure is my investment?
Your investment is secured initially by your payment being held in an independent account until such time as your Points Certificate
has been issued. Company policy is that all vessels owned by the Boat Bond are free from finance on the vessels and remain as security
for all members.
What if I have to cancel my booking?
The scale of loss is:
90 days or more - 100% points refund
60 to 89 days - 75% points refund
40 to 59 days - 50% points refund
39 or less days - No Refund
How much do the one year special points cost?
These are only available to plan holders. The cost of special points is dependent on your plan:
Bronze Plan: £0.12
Silver Plan: £0.10
Gold Plan: £0.08
Platinum Plan: £0.06
You may also buy and sell points from other members at prices agreed between yourselves - see the faq 'Am I able to sell my points?'
May I upgrade my Points Purchase Plan for a longer period as I only purchased the Bronze Plan for 3 years and I want to upgrade
to the Gold Plan for 12 years?
Yes, you may upgrade to any other plan which The Boat Bond offers. There will be a charge for this service, but a discount will apply
if you upgrade within the first year of membership subject to availability.
